Technical session (15 mins)

Before technical session begins coaches demonstrate to the group the correct passing technique using the proper mechanics.

  • Look at target

  • Eye on ball

  • Angle of approach

  • Non-kicking foot along side ball in a comfortable position

  • Strike Centre of ball with inside of foot (Identified area of the ball)

Within the 30x30 area players are paired  opposite each other. To begin players must simply pass the ball to their partner opposite who then controls the ball before passing it back across the area. Coaches located at opposite sides of the area during the practice to observe for correct technique.

Challenge players to complete 10 passes without losing control of the ball.

Skill (15 mins)

Skill session (15 mins)

Skill practice designed to challenge their technical ability practiced in the technical session with the added pressure of opposition.

The goals are brought into play and area now resembles a game scenario. The objective of the practice is to generate an overload in numbers to aid the players on the overladed side in possession  of the ball, utilising the extra numbers to create space and pass through the defending team to score in the goal across the area opposite to where they started in possession.

The 3 members on the defending team are to challenge for possession and if they can turn over the ball to dribble the ball quickly through the gates either side on the halfway line of the area before conceding possession back.

Rotate players between attacking and defending regularly.

Coaches to prompt use of defending mechanics (Concentrate on passing set out in technical practice).
