Red Team Working on Press
(7v10) Two smaller end 1/3s and bigger central 1/3.
Aim: Middle CB (GK) starts with ball. 3v1 looking to play forward into 5v5 area, who then look to play into final third for a 2v1. *Defence can bypass 5v5 and go direct to 2v1 but the pass has to be along the floor, not aerial. 2v1 go to goal as quickly as possible.
90 seconds work (30 secs rest)
Progressions:
1. In Zones, not allowed to leave zones.
2. LW/RW are allowed to press if ball gets switched between CB through GK.
3. LW/RW can press after 2 passes made.
4. CAM can go to press but if he does ST must drop back into his position.
5. CBs can now carry ball into mid third.
6. Zones now no longer exist (except for final third).
Coaching points:
ST - press CB on an angle make it difficult for them to switch play.
RW/LW - VITAL, must try to block central passing lane to opposite side whilst also keeping full back in the shadows. Engage CB when possible. When ball is on opposite side, tuck in centrally and be ready to go and press CB.
CAM - Mark CDM, can press CB but ST must cover. These two work on a pivot / rotation.
CDM - press ball side, look for opportunities to 'double press' and back up the winger.

8v8 SSG
Zones now there as markers but play is free. Both teams in 2-5-1 system.
Should hopefully see both teams successfully pressing.
