Session topic : finishing from different passes
Number of players required : 12 (2 goalkeepers)
equipment 2 goals ( game ) bibs , 4-6 balls
coaching equipment : stopwatch, whistle , watch
Health and safety considerations : footwear, jewellery, pitch and risk assessment
practise length approx 5 mins
before the practise starts a little walk through with a demonstration for everyone to have a thorough idea of the end goals, freeze method to be used to gather feedback and add pointers. Also different challenges perhaps shoot with different foot. Also a skill may be added to beat a defender or a movement.
Like the last drill everything is the same including the rotation despite one key advancement to make the scenario even more realistic, in this drill the first player plays a ball the second player at the cone who receives the pass then turns out and plays it into the right channel where the third player is stood which is already creating a scenario that occurs in a game , to which this player crosses across the box for the player to touch and shoot. The ball can either be played along the floor or in the air which allows the striker to have the choice of first time shot or taking a touch . The rotation is very simple , after the set you just move to the next cone along. a queue will form where the first player is and players waiting can wait and take in information. The end goal is to beat the goalkeeper and shoot on target. The intended outcome of this drill is to get a basic understanding of a game realistic attacking scenario also for the goalkeeper too. The defender will be in the grey shaded area who is allowed to try and challenge the attacker in the box who gets the ball played to them. One more advancement is rather than a straight pass from the 1st and second player now it is a 1-2 then a turn out. Additionally the 3rd player can now either pass or drive and shoot himself making it more challenging for the defender.

approx length : 8 mins
Throughout the practise , the game may be frozen so advice and new challenges can be put in place.
For the final practise , The 12 players will split into two teams of 6 and play a small sided game where playing penetrative passes and creating chances will be encouraged. Conditions such as scoring from 1v1 scenarios will be in place and first time will result in two goals so a reward is in place. Other things can be added for example you can only score with a one touch finish to make it more challenging.
The intended learning outcome for this is to take the things they have learnt into a match scenario.
