Warm Up (15 mins)

Organisation

12 GK's split into 2 groups of 6

6 GK's split into 2 teams of 3

Square of 5 x 25 to be set up with 2x2 boxes in each corner, opposite corners matching colour as shown in diagram.

1 ball, any team to start.

8 mins

Explanation

Teams score a point by transfering the ball from one corner to the other (same colour).

Once a player has the ball in hands they cant move (similar to netball) the ball can only be intercepted (no tackling)

A variety of distribution techniques should be encouraged.

Main Practice (20 mins)

Organisation

Player 1 Always serves the ball, and can either play short to

where there are no players, so the Goalkeeper must come and

play the ball into the goal. The Server could also shoot for

Goal, or even play to players 2 or 3. With these options it is

possible to firstly affect the goalkeepers starting position and

then how they react to the ball being moved.

The Goalkeeper needs to be close enough to support or

intercept play, but also not expose the goal.

Once the ball is played to either Player 2 or 3, these players

have 2 choices in possession. They either control the ball with

1 touch and then shoot, or if they take a second touch, they

must now score by dribbling the ball around the goalkeeper

and into the goal.

- To make this practice simpler you can give the players

targets eg. player 2 can only dribble straight at 1 post and

player 3 at the other post so the Goalkeeper firstly experiences

diving at the feet.

The Goalkeepers First thought must be can they win the ball

as early as possible, so looking for a heavy/bad touch, if the

player looks to shoot the Goalkeeper must be set

SSG (25 mins)

Organisation

3v3+2 game creating 1v1 situations.

1 Goal if the player scores from a shot at goal,

from anywhere, but if they can score by playing

a wall pass off a team mate or an outside player

into the 18yd box then they are awarded 2

goals. 5 goals are awarded if the attacker can

dribble around the Goalkeeper

- start off with no defensive player can drop

into the area.

- when a team is in possession encourage the

goalkeeper to be involved within the build up,

might even play a longer pass over the top.

Progression:

- A Defensive player can recover back into the

area to work on the delaying aspect for the

goalkeeper and also the communication
