Organization:
1. 3x3yds as shown.
2. Groups of two players.
Instructions:
One player starts with ball with other player on their side. With the outside, sole and inside foot, the attacking player tries to keep ball away from the defending player by shielding it with their body. Player tries to keep ball for 10 seconds, and then players switch roles.
Coaching Points:
1. Keep body between ball and defender.
2. Low center of gravity (Bend knees)
3. Place arm in “L” shape on defender to create separation and help balance.
4. Use far foot to keep ball away from defender (Keep ball moving)
5. Turn to open space and accelerate past defender.

Organization:
1. Set up as shown (15x15yds)
2. Lose your marker grid (3x3yds)
3. 6 to players per grid.
Instructions:
1. Players start in grid shown above. Attacking players attempts to lose marker.
2. Once attacking player checks to ball, defender follows.
3. Attacking players shields the ball while looking to turn and dribble through blue gates.
4. If defender wins the ball, they score on counter goals.

Set Up:
30x20 wide grid with 2 goals. 2 teams of equal number with neutrals if needed. Balls at top with coach.
Instructions:
1. Players play 5v5 to four goal game.
2. Two free zones for attacking team. (defenders are not allowed in this area)
3. When defending team wins possession of the ball. they are able to go into any zone due to becoming attacking team.
4. Only rule is that players can only pass ball back to free zone after taking 3 touches on the ball. (shield)
5. Players in free zone are able to go into middle zone when their team is defending.

Dribbling To Shield and Turn (15 mins)
Set up
Set up a 10X 10 yard diamond as shown.
Organization
Players work in groups of 3 or 4. Player dribbles at one of the outside cones and does a turn - drag bag, outside chop etc to turn away from the cone before playing a pass to the opposite sides. Play on opposite side works back. Switch up the turns and work both left and right sides
Progressions
Player passes the ball acorss the grid and passively presses the cone that the player dribbles to before having them turn away. Progress up to full pressure - make it competitive for beating the defender.
Coaching Points
Speed of dribble, use body to shield the ball from defender, quality of turn, recognize where space is to turn towards.
