Organisation

This practice gives us options that are available when

The practice involves a MF Diamond and Two Strikers V GK, Two

defenders+MF3(passive), and a target man.

Practice always start with the server, who plays into the GK and plays out from th back to the CHs.

In this case the green team, sits and holds back behind the red line and lets the white play forward and needs to make 3 passes to hit the target man, (creating opposition errors). Once the green team win possession they have to move forward as a unit to create scoring opportunities. They need break fast, and break passing lines.

Coaching Points & Aims

Aim for players to transfer the content and coaching points from

the function into the SSG.

Main Coaching Points

1) As soon as the offensive team wins possession of the ball the

two wide strikers use this as a trigger to stretch the pitch by taking

up a wide position. This will stretch the defensive back four, as the

full backs will look to mark the two players, thus causing more

space in between the full backs and centre backs.

2) When a player wins the ball they will look to play into the number

9s feet to use him as a target man and a platform for the counter

attack. He will look to hold the ball up and interlink the strikers and

midfielders. This needs to be fast in order to capitalize on the

defensive vulnerabilities.

3) The two central midfielders will look to make runs off the

number 9 through the space provided by the two wide players. The

movement off the number 9 is essential in making goalscoring

opportunities, as they need to drag players out of defensive

position, as well as being good on the ball thus looking to penetrate with their passing ability.

4) The deep lying playmaker will act as the defensive anchor, he will take up an effective position will can help maintain possession,

as well as being able to react if they lose possession. He can also see the whole pitch are see all players.

Managing the Opposition

Encourage the white team to be confident on the ball and drive forward looking to pass forward. In turn, encourage them to play out of

the back and to have a high midfield starting position.

Causing a Problem Make the defensive back four go narrow and cause a problem for the offensive. Encouraging the to utilise width.

Condition & Progression

When they win possession they have to score in 8 seconds

Create 5 quick passes before hitting the target
