Warm up.
Players have a ball each and they must dribble around the square.
On coaches command they must stop the ball dead, leave the ball behind, run to the opposite square and carry on dribbling with a new ball in the other square.
Coaching points:
Ask the players to dribble with both feet.
Ask the players to use only the soles of their feet.
Ask the players to perform a variety of skills and turns. Allow them to have ownership of this and chose their own skills and turns.
Ask them to keep their heads up so they don't bump into anyone.

This is an individual possession game, played in pairs, 1 red and and 1 blue play against each other throughout.
Inside the red square the 4 reds aim to keep possession of their ball against a blue opponent.
At the same time the 4 blues inside the blue square try to keep possession against a red opponent.
Coaching points:
The player in possession of the ball should use their bodies to help protect the ball.
Can you keep the ball moving? Don't let it stop still.
How might you outfox your opponent?

In the red square:
If a blue player wins the ball they need to try and dribble the ball into the blue square. The red player follows.
In the blue square:
If a red player wins the ball they need to try and dribble the ball into the red square. The blue player follows.

The game plays for a set period of time and once the time expires the winning team is the team with the most number of players in possession of a football inside the corresponding coloured square.
Progressions:
Increase the gap between the 2 squares. Maybe introduce some gates or obstacles between the squares that the players must dribble through. Or the defender must go through the gate to allow the dribbler a bit more of a chance to get to the other square.

Add a goal at either end and a GK.
When a defending player wins the ball, they break out of the square and try to score.
If they score, they collect their ball and rejoin their coloured square and restart the game.
If they fail to score, the defending player collects the ball and takes it back to their coloured square and restart the game.

Blue players have a ball each and try to evade the red players who will apply passive pressure - no tackling.
Swap the defending players around every couple of minutes.
Progression:
Make the defenders active. If they steel the ball from an opponent, the player that lost the ball needs to try and sreel one from someone else.
