The more we forced the ball forward at the wrong time, the deeper we had to play in our own half. The girls will learn that a long ball to clear this area needs to go up and over the defenders, followed by stepping out with the intention to win second balls.
The problem we created for our forwards was 7 vs 3. It is extremely difficult to play as a forward in those scenarios. This is why a backward pass helps bring numbers forward.

Toro in the second half did a great job of playing a deep line of pressure. It took us 10-12 minutes to figure out how to play versus their tactics. This caused us to be under pressure more by forcing the ball forward.
In this situation, we need to bring the opposition out by keeping possession in our back line. Its very difficult to learn. My dad has watched me play soccer all my life, and still doesnt understand the purpose of passing back to your goalie.
Soccer is a multidirectional game. Very different than the traditional sport. (i.e. American Football- 4 downs to move the ball forward. Backward is negative and sideways will not gain yards.)
