Passing & Player Rotation:
Set-up: Split into groups of 4. Each player in a different grid. 20x20 grid.
Progression:
1) Each team keeps possession of the ball withn the outside grid. Once players play a pass they must move into another grid. Only one team member can be in one quarter at the same time, requiring multiple players to rotate simultaneously.
2) First touch must take you into another quarter. There is still a requirement to only have one player in each quarter so players need to shift around.
3) Players can now pass to any player regardless of colour, but only one from each colour can be in each quarter. First touch must still take them into another quarter.
Scoring: What team can keep the bal moving effectively and rotate as per the conditions of the exercise for the longest?

4v4+1 (U9 & U10). 5v5 +1 (U11)
1) 4 passes is one point, but players need to be in different quadrants when possessing. Once you pass the ball must move to a different quadrant, in turn other players have to adapt and do the same.
2) one point if you successfully pass the ball to a target player.

2v2 Small Group Defense Progression
1) Passive: have two players pass the ball back and forth. The other two defending work on staggered stance and forcing attacker wide. Other defender needs to provide cover in case the first defender were to get beat. attackers are not trying to beat defenders. They just hold on to the ball for 3-4 touches. Switch Roles.
2) Live: 2v2 dribble across the line.
Coaching Points: Where do we force them? Two principles small group defense: Communication, shape (pressure-cover)

2v1's with trailing defender:
*U9's: ball can start with attacker if that helps with flow
1) Defender near goal plays ball to attacker and goes and defends. Trailing defender can only go once attacker touches the ball. Trailing defender and defender near goal swtich positions once play is over. After 3 minutes switch roles.
2) Switch sides,
Coaching Point: If defender is outnumbered what should they do? Delay, wait for help and don't dive in (bull rush).
1) First defender needs to delay attack and second defender needs to provide cover for first defender.
