Football/Soccer Session Plan Drill (Colour): Screen 1

Screen 1 (20 mins)

3 teams of 4 - 2 teams keeping the ball and 1 team defending.

1 team starts with all 4 players in the same box, 1 defender will enter the square to press the ball. Once 3 passes have been completed the blues try to find a yellow player in another box.

Once this happens all yellows will then go into the same box and keep the ball away from a different defender. The blues will disperse so they have a a player in each of the 3 boxes.

Screen 2 (10 mins)

Defenders win the ball = they become an attacking team and the team who lost the ball enter the middle and become the defenders.

- 1 defender at a time.

- Cannot be the same defender twice in a row

Coaching points

- Space - make the box as big as possible when trying to keep the ball

- Players waiting for the ball in a box- best position? back on the box, more space and time.

- Fast transition - get to the box as fast as you can - don't leave your team mate isolated.

- Movement inside box

Progression

- No limit on passes before the ball gets moved - decision making - dont pass too early if the other team isnt ready.

- 2 defenders at a time - greater ball turnover
