Traffic Lights

Objectives

- How to hold a hockey stick

Material Needed


- Hockey Sticks

-Hockey Balls

- Cones

Set Up


- All syudents will have a hockey stick and a ball, dribbling around the area


- When Teacher says Red Light all students need to stop, when Teacher says Green Light all students can go back into dribbling.


- First Student do to the appropriate action gets one point


Progressions


- Instead of Teacher/Coach saying the colour, can show a cone


- Need to go from one end of the area to the other.


- If when red light is showed and if ball keeps moving, the student needs to go back to the beginning.


Coaching Points


- Ball close from the stick


- Body position in relation to the stick


- Area where hold the stick


- Encourage students dribling not just looking at the ball


- Awareness to what happens around them

Dribling Zone

Set Up



- 6 small areas where students can drible


- 3 students p/box, all with a hockey stick and a ball


- Students should be able to drible without crashing or going out of the area


Progression :


- Students can move from box to box creating more chaos, but can be more than 4 students in box


- Adding a defender, Teacher/Coach can be a defender to challenge the students with good dribbling abilities and the less confident in their skills by helping them to succeed.
