Mechanics

Organisation and setup
Area size is 2 15m x 20m sections
3 markers red/white/blue positioned approx 10m away from the goals 1 central and 2 out wide
Teams are in a 6 v 6
Teams work in different areas.
Each player has a ball
Balls placed on the outside for easy access
Gks to take up a position in goals
1 player from each team stands on the white middle marker and acts as the target man
Remaining 4 players take up a position off the pitch and in between the gate.
Technical practice
The player in the gate is to pass the ball to the target man and follows his pass
Target man sets the ball to the left or right.
Player strikes the ball at the goal
Striker then takes the place of the target man
The target man gets the ball and joins the queue behind the gate
Target man now moves to the red cone so that players are to strike the ball with right foot
Target man now moves to the blue cone so that players are to strike the ball with right foot.
Players are now to attempt striking the ball with the outside of the foot.
Progressions
Target man can flick the ball in the air for players to attempt volleys/half volleys
Competitions
Teams to compete against each other 1 point for hitting the target 2 points for scoring a goal

Players are positioned behind the gate and in a queue

Skill practice
To start 1 player from the red team dribbles with the ball and shoots before passing the marked halfway line.
As soon as he shoots the player from the blue team dribbles and shoots before passing the halfway line. However the red player who has just shot becomes the defender and puts pressure on and tries to prevent the blue player from scoring.
The blue player then becomes the defender
Once you have been a defender you take up a position in the queue behind the gate.
Challenges
Can they use varying surfaces of the foot to strike the ball?
Competitions
Which team can score the most goals after every player has had 5 shots?

Progressions
1) Teams awarded 1 point for an attempted shot/ 2 points for shot on target/3 points for a goal.
2) Teams must get a shot off before 3 passes.
3) Place cones down the middle of the pitch. When players have the ball is in attacking half they must shoot within 2 secs.
