Screen 1 (10 mins)

Windows Warm-Up - 25 x 25

Use as many as players as needed.

Half of your players on outside of grid, half on inside.

Object is for players to complete a technical/tactical warm-up and limit injuries by contact before they play. Players on outside of grid switch with players inside after one minute of play.

To start: Outside player passes to inside player, who has the following options:

- pass when ready to any player inside his square

- pass when ready to any player outside grid area

Progressions:

2-touch - Require a two-touch maximum to increase intensity

1-touch - Require a one-touch maximum for same reasons as stated above.

Switching/crossing - Inside players pass in a short-short-long pattern to outside player.

Pressing - Move half of your inside players to one side of the field or even a corner of the square with this variation.

Headers/Chesters - Require the outside players to serve balls in the air to inside players who receive and pass ball either inside the square to teammates or back to an outside player.

Throw-ins - Outside players practice throw-ins to inside players who pass before sending the ball back to the outside for another throw.

Takeovers - Inside player passes to outside player and they switch positions

Play two balls in the drill as well.

Again, there is NO defensive pressure or contact in this drill. It is a passive drill designed to increase intensity and improve your possession as you play. Stretch at conclusion of the drill to maximize your teaching points.

Coaching points:

Head up

Keep an open body position at all times to receive, pass

Check your shoulders

Communicate with your inside teammates to unlock the gates

Pass and follow
