Gauntlet

2vs1 into play focus on leading passes into our teammates to progress into the next box.

Problem: Passing weight and accuracy has been poor and stopped attacks.

Solution: Soft into space, firm into feet (backfoot to go forward)

Problem: Players are passing behind their teammates and slowing down/stopping the attack.

Solution: Looking to lead players into space to allow them to step onto the ball

Multiple repetitions with players looking to drive into the space and connect leading passes into their teammates to allow them to progress up the field.

Increase to thirds and increase challenge to attackers and provide increased chance for leading passes.

Activity 1: 3vs3 Playing to Endzones

Targets

Problem: Passing weight and accuracy has been poor and stopped attacks.

Solution: Soft into space, firm into feet (backfoot to go forward)

Problem: Players are passing behind their teammates and slowing down/stopping the attack.

Solution: Looking to lead players into space to allow them to step onto the ball

Problem: Attackers are dropping deep and congesting the midfield, preventing the team from having space and allowing opponents to stay compact.

Solution: Stretching play to increase the gaps between the opponents and create opportunities to drive into space

Problem: Players aren't recognising the right moment to play the killer pass.

Solution: Can attackers look to make the right movement to allow a killer pass through into space.

Activity Description:

• 3vs3 aim is to score by passing into the endzone.

• Offside line at 10yrds to encourage players to make off the ball runs.

• Player's setup in a triangle to increase height, width, depth

• Only 2 defenders allowed in the defensive half to allowopportunity for attacking overload.

Scoring System:

• First team to score X number of goals wins.

Script: (Planned Interactions/Coaching Points)

• Find the spare player.

• Can we find space to receive

• Can we make positive forward movements to penetrate space

Progression

• Game moves into 2x 3vs3s as players arrive

• Remove restrictions on number of defenders allowed in
