Shooting Circuit - Key Objectives
Practicing static shot technique with inside of the foot and laces.
Practicing shot accuracy and direction.
Organisation (Drill is designed for six players, therefore setup two organisations of each station for 12 players)
Players work in pairs and start in allocated playing channel.
Each playing channel has a different shot station to practice shooting technique and accuracy:
Station A
Place a tall cone between each player as a target.
Players take it in turns to try and knock down the middle cone.
Station B
Setup goals either side of the playing channel.
Using one ball players attempt to score in each other's goal.
Station C
Players attempt to play a pass through a narrow channel of cones.
Move stations every 2-3 minutes. Players keep scores against there partner to make competitive.
Progression 1
Players progress to shoot a moving ball by rolling the ball forward with the sole of the foot before striking.
Regression
Change the distances between the targets (see the regression line) to allow for greater chance of success.

Organisation:
Split pitch into 3 channels.
On either side of each channel assign 2 shooters.
Assign 2 GK's guarding goals 3-4m apart.
GK's are stuck to their line, the aim for each GK is to block the balls going through their channel.
Each channel has one ball per set (have extra balls + spares to serve when balls go out).
Player with the ball (A) shoots towards GK's in the middle. Concentrate on technique not power.
If keeper saves, he turns and rolls it to player C who then takes a touch and shoots back towards Player (A).
If both keepers miss the ball - player C controls, dribbles to his starting line and shoots back.
After 2mins players A & B rotate with the GK's
Contest
Once players understand the mechanics of the drill coach can turn the drill into a competition shooters v GK's, shooters get one point for a goal, two points for beating both GK's and a bonus point for attemping with the weaker foot.
GK's get one point for every succesful save, two points for a succesful catch.
Progression 1 - Shot Type
Players make a static shot with the inside of the foot, looking to place the ball with accuracy.
Progression 2 - Shot Type
Players make a static shot with the laces, looking to strike the ball with power and precision.
Progression 3 - Shot Type
Player passes directly to GK. GK passes or rolls back to the feet of the striker who takes a touch and then strikes down the channel.
Progression 4 - Shot Type
Player passes directly to GK. GK passes or rolls back to the feet of the striker who strikes down the channel first time.
Progression 5 - Finishing
Free play, as soon as the striker touches the ball the GK can rush the striker and collect the ball. Striker can dribble towards the GK and finish from close range.

Creating 3v2 Overload to Goal - Key Objectives
Attacking Principles in final third
Shot selection
Recognising how to get to goal with an overload
Organisation:
Seperate pitch into thirds with one narrow central zone.
Drill designed for 11 Players: 2 v 2 + GK in both ends of the pitch.
1 neutral player in central zone (coach can add more in this zone if group is larger).
On coaches signal the drill starts with GK who serves the ball to his defenders.
Team in possession attempt to play the ball forward into the neutral player in the centre zone.
Common player turns and passes or dribbles into the attacking third to create a 3v2 with the aim of scoring on goal.
Should the opposition regain possession in their attacking third they will attempt to counter attack and score 4v2 by breaking out their zone.
Ball out behind the goal or sidelines will lead to a restart from GK (Coach signals which GK restarts).
Progression - Match
Take out the middle channel and progress to full game. Players including floater are unrestricted.
Key Factors:
Movement in possession.
Be confident playing the ball forward and breaking lines.
Body Shape (especially common player) - side on so first thought is to play forward.
Understand when to play through, around or over oppositon to get ball forward.
Shot selection - Shoot from distance if there is no pressure on attacking player.
