JV: 5v2
Intervals:
2 min work + 1 min. rest x 6 reps = 18 min
Setup:
2 teams of 8
2 grids of 25x15
Activity:
Team in possession tries to keep possession.
Defensive team tries to win ball and score in counter goal.
Only defensive team can score.
Coaching Points:
~ Create a U shape across back line with #6 acting as pivot
~ Try play with a 2-touch rhythm
~ Quickly transitioning to immediate pressure when losing ball - "3 seconds of fury"
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Setup:
8v5
1-4-3-0 vs. 0-0-2-3
Small gates with a target player in them for team building out.
Activity:
Blue team scores in big goal --> 3 points.
White team scores by playing through gates into target --> 1 point.
When targets receive ball, play square to another target and then into team attacking big goal. When team attacking big goal wins the ball, they have 5 seconds to score (play direct since down 3 players).
Coaching Points:
+ Use of Out-In-Out to break defensive lines
+ 3 seconds of fury when losing the ball
+ All 8 players recovering to defend if losing the ball
Progression:
~ Add more players to team attacking big goal (#6, #2, #3)
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Intervals:
5 min work + 1 min rest x 3 reps = 18 min
Setup:
11v10
1-4-4-3 vs. 0-4-3-3
half field with a10 yard scoring zone (just across half)
Activity:
Blue team scores in big goal --> 3 points.
White team scores by passing/dribbling across scoring line --> 1 point
When build out team scores new ball comes in right away from coach to counter-attack.
Setup blue (defending) team in 2 pressing scenarios: 1) high press (i.e. University) 2) low press (i.e. Kamiakin)
Coaching Points:
~ Show give-and-go between outside back & winger to break down 2v2 out wide
~ On low press, switching the point of attack before midfield
~ Forwards stay as high as possible; when checking into midfield "leave late and arrive on time"
~ CB's should dribble into central channel to create more passing options (not down line)
