In this session, I aim to improve my teams ability to collectively pressure & disturb the opposition in the middle third

Explanation:
- 6 v 6 + 2 Jokers
- Jokers will play as end players and can be used by both teams
- Play will start from either end of the grid
- Team in possession is trying to score by playing the ball through to the other side and score via a bounce pass off the joker to another team mate
- Team in defence is trying to pressure & disturb in the middle third to win the ball back
Team Task: Can we collectively pressure in the middle third to win the ball back?
Player Task:
- Midfield, can you pressure your direct opponent collectively to win the ball?
- Forwards, can you force your opponent to play one side?
Cues:
- Midfield, can you two work together to ensure that one presses the ball & the other is blocking passing lanes?
- Forwards, as the ball is served into the grid, can you position your body so the opposition plays to one side only?

Explanation:
- Play starts from the goal keeper who will always play to red
- Red are trying to score a goal into the mini goals
- Green are trying to win the ball back in the middle third and score in the goal
Team Task: Can we collectively pressure our opposition in middle third to win the ball?
Player Tasks:
- 7, 9 & 11, can you force the opposition to play one side of the field?
- 7 & 11, can you encourage the opposition to play a pass into the wide areas?
- 7 & 11, can you force your direct opponent to play into midfield when they are in possession?
- 10, can you stop the opposition 3 or 4 playing the ball directly into midfield?
- 6 & 8, can you stop your direct opponent receiving the ball facing forward?
Cues:
- 9, as 3 or 4 receive the ball, can you position yourself so they cannot switch the play?
- 7 & 11, when 3 or 4 have the ball, can you push inside to force them to play wide?
- 7 & 11, can you position yourself so your opponent cannot score a goal in wide areas?
- 10, when 3 or 4 have the ball, can you position yourself between the 6 & 8 so they cannot receive the ball?
- 6 & 8, as the opposition 7 or 11 receive the ball, can you stop your direct opponent receiving the ball and facing forward?

Passing Practice (15 mins)
Explanation:
- Passing practice starts from where the balls are located
- Passes follow the sequence as stipulated by the practice
- Players will follow their pass
- The four defenders in the practice are to passively defend the opposition player
Perception:
- Players showing for the ball
- Players clearly calling for the ball
- Players communicating with each other regarding defenders ('man on' etc)
Decision:
- When to press the ball carrier
- Where to force the opposition to play
Execution:
- Speed of pass
- Body position (receiving & defending)
- Movement on & off the ball
