Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): Barcelona Possession Game - 4v4 + 4

Barcelona 4 v 4 Plus 4

Set-up: 

20x20 Box split into 10x10 boxes as shown.  3 teams of 4 players with one team on the outside to start who play as bumpers and the other team teams with one player in each box within.

Instructions:

1.) Players possess the ball but are restricted to only playing in the box they are in and can use the bumpers who work across the sides of the box to create numbers up in each box.   8 Passes completed equals a point and passes to bumpers count as a point.  Bumpers have 2 touch max limit.  After a point is scored the ball is played back to the coach and the next ball is played in. Once they have the hang of it then once a point is scored then they can play into the next zone to keep the game going. if ball goes out then the coach plays a new ball to the last team who touches it. Rotate groups to give everyone a change to play as the bumpers.  

Progressions:

2.) Progress to points awarded for connecting 5 passes in one box and then 5 in another as the players become competent in moving the bumpers to make a 3v1 situation.

3.) Progress to points awarded for connecting 4 passes only within the colors of your team inside the box, but still can use bumpers (just no passes awarded for their use).

4.) Progress to points awarded for combining inside and getting the ball back from your own teammate within the box 

5.) progress to players can now move from box to box, but there must be a constant balance of players in each box or a turnover.
