FUNCTIONAL PRACTICE
The key learning outcome of the session is working on the movement of the No4; No8; No9 & No10
Target - getting the ball into no10 to play forward to no9 to pass to GK. No7 & No11 Can only play on outside of the red box and aim to take ball through yellow gates. both wingers are restrcited to 2 touch
COACHING POINTS
no5 & no6 stay wide and have to stay in their own half (realistic if switch to defensive transition in game)
No4 & No8 to start high- CM on a diagnal run comes to receive the ball from centre half - other CM splits wide to create space for through ball to No10
Key point - communication as both No4 & No8 don't drop deep to receive at the same time.
If ball played into no10....this is the trigger for the no9 to make a run across to either recieve ball or for no10 to make driving run into the box....or wait for no4/no8 to make overlapping run into box also.
Do Wingers adopt a positive position to create a passing line from CM's
When ball is played into wingers, do players react to recieve pass, or create a passing line for Winger to play direct to our lone striker.
WHAT IF.........if there was 2 defending cbs and one picked up the no10 also, can the defenders then play the longest ball into chest/feet of the no9 to pin defender and then play off number 10? or can there be a rotation between 4/8/10 in a triangular motion? or use width and play wide into wingers who can drive into gates or play ball into no9 to bounce pass or no10 to create in zone 14
