Drill 1 (15 mins)

1v1s 2v2s 3v3s


Pass the ball to one side and then the player to get a point needs to dribble through the gates, if the defender wins the ball back they now try and score at the other side which if successful gets 2 points(1 point for winning the ball, 1 point for scoring the point)


Focus: Success for defender, for 2v2 3v3 working together, getting feet to the ball quick and then slowing down bend in the knees showing the player to the touchline with their defensive body shape, don't dive in and focus to delay until the opportunity to get the ball is there.


Start 1v1 then progress to 2v2 and finally 3v3. 

Coaching points for the 2v2 and 3v3 will be more focused on working as a unit and being vocal with your teammate.

Drill 2 (15 mins)

1v1s transitional game focusing on defending mainly.


Split into 2 teams, red player attacks and then becomes the defender as soon as the ball is dead. Defending player the grabs the ball and joins the line. Every player attacks once and instantly becomes the defender.

To make it competitive count the goals scored by both teams having a winner at the end.

As soon as the ball is dead have the next player go instantly.


Set up 2 goals if you have enough players so no one is waiting in a line to long(look at diagram) to improve ball rolling time
