(Un)opposed technique (30 mins)

2nd Phase, ball mastery/technical work

Objective: Work on various skill moves and solutions to 1v1's.

Organization: Everyone does the same exercise at the same time. Exercise A, players start at the cone, dribble to the box and turn. In the example below, they can go around the cone and turn. In both exercises, they pass the ball back to the beginning. Be creative with the turns.. use chops, L-turns, scissors, step-overs, the hop, Maradona's, Cruyff's, ect. You can also use the box in different ways to promote turning and peeling off. Make it a competition!! In exercise B, the passer play to the attacker, while the defender is passive, but on his back. Once the attacker receives the ball (or turns), the game is live and they play a 1v1. The can each score by dribbling to the opponents end-line. Passer becomes an attacker. Attacker becomes a defender. Defender becomes the passer. Make it a competition!!

KEY WORDS: Use every part of both your feet. Dribble in small steps. Use deception.

GUIDED QUESTIONS: 1. What do you need to do to create or find openings? 2. When can you pass or dribble forward?

ANSWERS: 1.You need to either pass or dribble the ball. 2. When you have an opening.
