Building off our sessions on attacking units we now want to concentrate on how we get the ball to the attacking unit by focusing on Group penetration. This will start first with the attributable qualities then move on to the key principles of possession to penetrate. using example of position characteristics #6 CHM #8 CM #10 CAM
We will also be incorporating GK's into our sessions from start to finish this will be an effective tool in order to get the most out of your keepers Jordan will be moving Group to the group to help them individually.
Coaching expectations this season:
All sessions this season are catering for multiple age groups they contain coaching points, levels & progressions it's up to you as the coach to set aside and plan for the ones you want to work on specifically with your groups
Coaches should be identifying the below criteria in the session and breaking it down using the pillars of the game making sure you're ticking all boxes.
Below are some suggestions of what to consider when catering the sessions for your groups
Technical: what attribute or team concept you are asking the players to learn & How it's taught & performed breaking it down for the players
Tactical: Who the positions or player that it relates to,Where & When to use the attribute or team concept, this could be a moment or relate to a third of the field/area, or a visual or audio trigger. Why we use this attribute or team concept. this should emphasize the decision-making process & reason behind the choices to answer questions the game asks of the players
Physical: Correct Motor Skill development for your specific to topic and age, Relation of movement to topic, Work to rest ratio of your activities, energy, and tempo of your session, pushing the boundaries on physical goals for the group and individuals.
Physiological: having competition through the stages of the session, goal setting what you want to achieve with the group what do they want to achieve as players. setting a standard of practice throughout with a high level of expectation
Social: The environment you create for your players, promoting leadership and teamwork, establish a greeting and level of respect with your player's, Engagement with the players both assertive & helpful with a little added banter.

Organization
30 x 20 split into 4-10x8 rectangles
Small box 1x1 with a ball in the center of the rectangle
-Attacking team numbers up defending team numbers down. (coach can manipulate based on overall group numbers.
-Attacking Team with the ball
Instructions
-Penetration Rondo attacking team must penetrate to knock the middle ball out of the square using the ball they have in possession for 3 points
-defenders must steel the ball and dribble to the outside edge for a point in transition then the game resets
-1 minute rounds.
-rotate defenders after a few rounds.
GoalKeepers
-if you have keepers then have them play on the defensive team and be able to use their hands to stop penetration
-they can work on shot, stopping collapse dive & defensive communication /organisation when working with a partner.

*Line 3 penetrate direct to target #10 CAM Killer Pass
*Line 2 penetrate around the block
*Line 1 possession/Maintenance line, keep the ball moving quick to stretch and move the other team where we want in order to open lines 2&3.

-One touch passing

-limited touches for attacking team.

Organization
20x30 with a 10x20 penetration zone mark as shown
-3 teams of players
-2 teams keeping possession located in the end zones & 1 team defending located in the middle zone
-ball with the attacking teams
-the defending team will split into two groups one group will press one side and the other group will press the opposite side only when the ball transitions.
Instructions
-Game starts in one of the end zones with an attacking team trying to penetrate the middle zones for points.
-The defending team will split into two groups one group will press one side and the other group will press the opposite side only when the ball transitions.
-the coach can have a preference of what zones he would like his players to penetrate either the middle or the channels depending on the type of penetration he wants to work on.
-if the defenders steel they must try to penetrate to score
-rounds are 2 mins long rotate the defensive team every round.
Goalkeepers
-If using goal keepers they can play in the transitional goal or as a defender in the middle zones that can use their hands to stop penetration
-they can work on shot stopping, collapse dive & defensive communication /organisation and be a supporting option for the back pass.

Progressions
-One attacking player can now penetrate individually into the middle zone and provide support, link up play or individual penetration. #8 CM box to Box providing more mobility fro the team.

Organization
-30x20 split into 3 zones as shown
-1 Players split into 3 teams
-2 teams will partner up one ball between two
-1 team defending in the middle zone
-4 transition pug goals
Instructions
-Attacking players are trying to play passes across the middle channel to their partner for a point
-all players are restricted to their channels
- if the defender steels they can transition and come out of their channel and try to score in the pug goal they are facing at the time
-after a set amount of time rotate the group in the middle.
Goalkeepers
-when using goal keepers have them work in the middle zone using their hands to stop penetration they can also work on their distribution in transition by rolling throwing or kicking the ball into one of the pugs from the middle zone.
Progression
-defenders are now allowed out of their channel to press.
Coaching Points
-quality of technique
-weight of pass
-unbroken lines of supporting player
-how can we create space using moves.
-observation communication.

Organization:
field size (20x15 3v3 or 4v4) 20x30 (5v5) if space available
2 pugs per field make bigger targets if using keepers
Instructions
-each age group will combine to make teams of 4v4 or 5v5, no GK
-the teams will compete in a round robin tournament
-3 points for a win 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss
Instructions:
- Players split up into 3-4 teams and play a round robin tournament where all teams play.
- players must not step inside the red cone areas in front of goal this will stop goaltending ,the players must shoot from outside the area
-settle ties with 1v1s to add more fun and competitive mindset
Coaching Points:
1. 3 lines of attack, defense, midfield,Forward
2.Team mates create gaps, can player in possession look to dribble into them

WS Restarts week 8
-This week we will focus on retaining possession 100 % from our own restarts
WS Principle of Play Week 8
-This week we will focus on the decision-making of how to penetrate using the 3 lines of penetration.
-Try giving you team a scenario before the game to effect the way you want to play.
GK principles
-observation of attacking ball movement and set position
-closing down 1v1 breakaways.
-Transitional play which players to distribute can we skip lines and play into our target player

Activity
-Each player inside the pitch must play a 1v1 with their partner the aim is who ever has possession of the ball must try to score against one of the keepers
-who ever scores will eject their partner and become an option for their color team to pass to and help them to score
-the player that is ejected will join the out side as a neutral player and help anyone with a ball.
-after every 1 minute round swap partners and reset the game
Goalkeepers to work on closing down 1v1,shop stopping from close range and transitional distribution out to the player who was defending.That player can now only score on the opposite goal.

-Now have the two teams play for one ball every time a player scores from one team another from the opposition is ejected to become a neutral on the outside edge and is now helping any team in possession.
