1: Speed of Play
A
- Set up several 12X12 grids, 5 players per grid
- 4 players stand next to each corner cone and a player on outside with a ball
- The 4 players win a point if they pass ball around square before blue player dribbles around the square
- Start at same time
- If the dirbbler is too far behind, he can run around the sqaure w/o the ball
- The passing players can only take 2 touch (no more, no less)
- Rotate the dribbler
B
- Play 4v2 or 5v2
- Attackers can NOT take anymore than 3 touches
- 2 defenders cannot tackle but they can intercept a pass
- 8 passes = goal; intercpetion from defender is a goal for defensive team
Coaching Points:
- Quality of 1st touch
- Know where to go before ball arrives (scan area)
- When to play 1 touch or 2 touch (activity B)
- Open hips to receive the ball
- Angles of support

2: Lanes Passing/Receiving
- Set up as shown in diagram
- 3-5 players per lane (make the lanes long in length)
- Start simply by passing down the lane and following pass
- Progress to short short longs, give & go's, longer laces passing
- You can add a player in middle of the lane (as shown in lane A) to play use as a combination player for a give & go and overlap.
Coaching Points:
- Keep focused on your players receiving the ball (as a coach)
- Make sure players are prepared to receive the ball (not flat footed) with smooth lateral movement
- Quality of 1st touch and where to take it

3: Attacking & Finishing
- Set up as shown in diagram
- 2 defenders in blue must stay on cone until pass is played to red forward player
- Once pass is played, 2 red players join in to make it a 3v2 situation
- Once ball leaves the grid or goes in the goal, repeat with new players
- Keep your forward player in as the target man for several reps then change with another forward player
- If defenders win the ball, they must pass the ball to one of the end red players
- Rotate the 2 defenders after several reps
VARIATION:
- Add wide players and extra forward and defender
Coaching Points:
- Reception of forward player, can he turn or does he need to hold ball up?
- Supporting runs, are they helpful to player on the ball?
- Take shooting opportunity when space opens up
