Day before the game training.

Objective: mental and physical activation game for the training session.
Set-up: 10x10 grid. 10 players.
Instructions: players play 1 touch keep away. If the defenders win the ball they drop the vests and transition quickly into the possession.
Timing: Play 4 minutes, stretch on their own 2 minutes, play 4 minutes then go into dynamic stretch.
Coaching Points: (1) quality of passes, (2) receiving the ball open across our body, (3) proper passing and receiving, movement to fill in spaces, fast transitions from defending to attacking and from attacking to defending.
Variations: (1) Make it a competition. Each team sends over 2 defenders. Play for 1 minute or until a team gets a certain number of passes in a row (ex 10). Keep score.

Objective: Improve passing, receiving and movement without the ball.
Variations: (1) Up/Back/Thru/Dribble, (2) Up/Back/Thru/Player who played it back goes underneath/Thru to the first person in the far line. No dribbling.
Coaching Points: (1) Quality passes; (2) Good first touch; (3) Checking away and checking to the ball. Proper timing; (4) Checking your shoulder on checking to the ball.

Objective: improve shape when in possession of the ball. Create a 10v7 shape of back 4, midfield 3 and attacking 3.
Set-Up: 28x40 grid. 17 players. 7v7 + 3 set-up positionally.
Variations: start by allowing players to get a feel for the game and creating shape. Then move on to scoring system where 5-7 passes = a point.

Instructions: server tosses the ball to partner who tries to score. If she scores both her and her partner are in goal. Last team in goal after 5 minutes wins.
