Analytical - Part 1 (10 mins)
Organization:
- Field is 55yds long x 40yds wide with 2 goals at either end as shown in diagram.
- Yellow cones shows starting point for exercise and split the players among the four areas with two GK's.
- Balls should be paced at the top of the 18 yard box off the field as shown in diagram.
- Need 6 red cones, 4 yellow cones, 16 balls, and 2 GK jerseys.
C - This position will allow me to see the ball movement, receiving technique and movements from all three key players (CB, GK, FB).
C1 - In this position, I will focus on the GK and their distribution to the FB and CB.
Description:
- Players will rotate from one area to the next in the order they pass the ball, not including the GK spot though. The midfield #6 would go to the top of the box to play the next pass.
1st Movement Pattern:
- The CB at the top of the 18 yard box will pass a moving ball out of their feet into the GK who opens up to pass the ball to the FB. As the ball moves, the other CB drops into the box to create a passing lane to the FB. Upon receiving the ball, the FB will dribble forward and then pass the ball to the midfielder who is showing for the ball. The midfielder will receive the ball on the half-turn and look to shoot.
Second Movement Pattern:
- The CB will pass the ball to the GK who opens up and plays the ball to the FB who sets the ball back to the right CB. After the ball has been set back, the CB will pass the ball to the midfielder showing into the middle while the FB moves to make themselves available for a pass if needed from the midfielder and finish with a shot on net.
Coaching Points:
GK - Use of hands to tell players where he/she wants to ball to be passed.
FB - Get in a wide position, take a positive touch and play forward into the midfield.
CB - Be in a supporting role and move to create passing lane for the FB.

- Body Position - ensure players are positioned to see majority of the playing field (open body)

Progressions:
- The GK plays the ball to the FB in the air for them to control it off their chest.
- The GK can play the ball into the midfielder.
- Introduce a right winger and introduce some over laps.
