Warm Up (10 minutes) (5 mins)

Session Objectives

- Goal keeper is able to know when to set and which type of set to use when facing different kinds of shots from different angles. Sets to consider: Step set, Skip set, Drop set.

Practice Explanation:

- Goal-keepers have a ball each and move around the area throwing the ball and trying to pick it up again. 

- Players get warm by moving around the area, and doing dynamic stretches throughout to be ready for the session.

Warm up Game/ Activation:

- Volleyball 

Session Objectives

- Goal-keepers are able to identify the type of shot coming in and make a quick decision on the type of save.

- Goal keeper is able to know when to set and which type of set to use when facing different kinds of shots from different angles.

Practice Objectives

- Players are able to compete against each other to get the most out of the drill.

Practice Explanation:

- Goal-keepers try to keep the ball up in the air while passing to each other with a maximum of 2 touches by using their hands. 

- If the ball bounces in a players square they have 1 bounce to be able to get it back in play. 

Progression: 

- No bounce allowed.

- Only 1 touch maximum.

Set Position Pt.1 (15 minutes) (15 mins)

Session Objectives

- Goal-keepers are able to identify the type of shot coming in and make a quick decision on the type of save.

- Goal keeper is able to know when to set and which type of set to use when facing different kinds of shots from different angles. Sets to consider: Step set, Skip set, Drop set. 

Practice Explanation:

- 2 sides are working at the same time, 

Left Side: - Goal-keepers make their way through the ladder and come out and set between the 2 red cones and the server in front volleys the ball to the goal-keeper. 

Right Side: - Goal-keepers start on the outside of the red cones, either the right or left side, and they make a movement to the back cone and come and set in front where the server in front volleys the ball to the goal-keeper. 

Challenge

- Server plays in the ball from the ground and the goal-keeper needs to decide which type of save suits the ball coming in.

Set position Pt.2 (20 minutes) (20 mins)

Session Objectives

- Goal-keepers are able to identify the type of shot coming in and make a quick decision on the type of save.

- Goal keeper is able to know when to set and which type of set to use when facing different kinds of shots from different angles. Sets to consider: Step set, Skip set, Drop set.

Practice Objectives:

- Goal keeper is able to identify the type of shot coming in based on the players angle and hip rotation and make a decision when to set. 

Practice Explanation:

- Servers are set up on an angle from goal in front of 2 cones on either side of the goal, on the servers call the goal keeper makes a movement to the first set of cones and receives a volley from the first server.

- The goal keeper then makes a movement between the two red cones to receive a shot from the sever stationed outside the box. 

Challenge

- All the servers now serve the ball from the ground and they are able to serve at either height and the Goal keeper must decide what kind of save to make.
