Keys to setting up a wall:
- As soon as foul is called and the ball is placed, keeper moves to near post to set the first player in wall (anchor) and calls out how many they want in the wall.
- Player 2 should line up inside the anchor (shoulder to shoulder) such that the line from the ball to the near post goes between the first two players in the wall.
- As soon as the first two players are set, the keeper can start to position themselves for the shot.
- Player 3 will line up tightly inside player 2.
- In this example, a 5-person wall, player 4 will line up next to player 3, but leave a small gap to allow the keeper to see the ball between players 3 and 4.
- Player 5 (if needed) will line up shoulder to shoulder with player 4.

Fundamentals of Setting a Wall:
1. Team should always use the inside of the wall player to set up less than 10 yards from the ball to prevent the quick free kick.
2. Set wall on the near post (side of the field where the ball is).
3. Set the first player in the wall so that their inside shoulder is in line with the ball and the post.
4. The keeper should position themselves toward the far post.
5. For outswung balls, slide the wall 1/2 person to the outside.
6. For inswung balls, slide the wall 1/2 person to the inside.
7. Players in the wall should stand shoulder to shoulder to prevent the ball form penetrating between players.
