WHO> 2&7 or 3&11

Organization:
70yards x 72 yards (wide)
8v8 Head Coach:
ATTACKING TEAM (Blue) - 4-3-1 (3-8-6-2 / 11-10-7 / 9)
DEFENDING TEAM (orange) - 1-4-2-1 (GK / back 4 / midfield 3)
2 x 5 minute bouts with 90 sec rest (15 min total)
Objective:
Give the attacking team repitition of trying to break down a well organized defending team. Allow the team to experience fustration and guide the players to recognize the potential situations to create an overload.
Guided Questions:
1. How is the opposition defending/covering our 7/11?
2. How well is the opposition organized? Space between lines? Gaps between players?
3. How we can we unbalance the opposition before we try to create our overload?
Desired Answers:
1. Staying tight they check inside OR staying back and allowing our 7/11 to turn
2. Unless it is in transition, well organized and hard to get between lines.
3. Play wide, then switch the ball quickly. (Overload to Isolate / torito)
Assist Coach notes:
-Important to keep the the back line high and organized. Closest player should step to stop 7,9,10,11 getting the ball and turning.
-Keep two lines close and don't allow midfield to chase the ball/get stretched.
-Counter quickly to counter goals

DEFENDING TEAM (orange) - 1-4-2-1 (GK / back 4 / midfield 3)
3 x 5 minute bouts with 90 sec rest (20 min total)
Coaching Points:
1. Rythem and patience in possession with quality 2 touch passing
2. 2/3/7/11 make the field big by creating width/depth
3. 7 check into space inside and 2 makes a deep run behind (interchange) forcing opposition opposition 3 to make a choice between stepping with 7 or tracking 2. Player in posession must make correct desicion to play 7 or find 2 with a long ball or in combination.
Guided Questions:
1. How can we create space behind the opposition 2/3?
2. How do we get defenders to follow checking runs?
3. Who do we need to be aware of when receiving the ball in half spaces? To 2/3/7/11
4. How can we get behind the defender when they step too high?
5. Who can get behind that defender when they step too high?
Answers:
1. 7/11 pull defenders towards the ball by checking in.
2. Give the checking player the ball.
3. Nearest defender. Is the 2/3 marking us tight?
4. Combination play (such as up/back/though) or a direct ball around or over the back line.
5: 2 or 3 running beyond the checking 7/11
Notes for Assist Coach:
-Important to keep the the back line high and organized.
-Keep two lines close and don't allow midfield 3 to chase the ball.
-Counter quickly to counter goals Head Coach:

-Incorrect choice?
-Poor technical application?
-Communication?

90 second reps with 45 second breaks for dynamic stretching (15 minutes total)
Bout 1: Each team progresses the ball up the field looking to play forwards quickly. 1 point for a ball received in the end zone (cannot dribble in)(encourage movement off the ball)
Bout 2&3: Teams compete against one another playing 5v3 in possession. Player cannot be in the end zone before the ball is played (encourage timing of movement)
Bout 4&5: Double points for a scoring run that starts behind the line of the ball (encourage runs from deep)
Desired Outcomes:
-Establish rythem in possession Technical application of passing and receiving
-Movement of the ball (3rd player run) Up>back>through
-Timing/Speed of runs off the ball
