PRACTICE: Part 2 (20 mins)

Bring one goal in from penalty area and line players up as shown above.

i) Players in lines A & B set off running with the ball to goal.

ii) Once player crosses the midway point (cones), they can shoot.

iii) As soon as the first player in line A & B cross the midway point, the next player in line goes.

iv) After each breakaway, players collect their ball and join the end of the other line, attacking the other goal. REPEAT.

Adv,

1) Give attacker 5-seconds to get across the midway point and get the shot away.

2) Have Player A only start. Once Player A shoots, player B goes. Player A then turns into a defender and chases Player B to try and stop him shooting. After each chase, players A & B swap lines.

Coaching Points

1) Running Touch: First touch should be an inside foot push pass to get the ball out of feet and acceleration room. Running touches should be with the laces without breaking the running style for maximum speed. Touch should cover 8-10yds each, using no more than 3-touches over 30yds.

2) Acceleration: Once the ball is out of feet, a player should adopt sprint dynamics to run as fast as possible. Long strides cover more distance

3) Product Execution: When in shooting range, look up after last running touch to assess the goal, the keeper, etc. Strike the shot in stride, at full speed and with part or all of your body shielding the ball.
