Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): Dutch Blitz

Dutch Blitz (20 mins)

Set Up: There needs to be a server about even with the 6yd box, but a little wider with all of the soccer balls, a shooting areas just outside the penalty box, someone in goal and everyone else out past the shooting area in a line.

Instructions: The server lays a ball into the path of the shooter who is moving into the shooting area. The ball must be struck first time. If the shot is saved, the shooter becomes the GKer for the next shot. If a goal is scored, that is one strike against the player in goal and that player must stay in goal for the next shot. If that is the GKers last strike and he or she is out, then it is the player after the shooter who has to sprint into the goal and become the GKer because in this case the shooter goes to the end of the line. If a shot goes over the net, the shooter becomes the GKer and has one strike against him or her (you can also play this rule if a shot misses the net ... that is up to the coach). Play until a time limit or there is only one player left. If you play until only one player left, it is best to play one strike and you are out.

Coaching Points: Fun, comradery, relaxing. Using good ball striking technique, but that is not the main focus as team bonding and some fun are more important at this point.
