It starts with a simple 2v2 and then gets harder when they face an overload from the Attack.

  • 2v2 Player for Player marking.
  • Ball is played from the Goalkeeper to the Attackers.
  • The Defenders must start inside the box, as soon as the attacker takes their first touch, defenders can then close down.
  • The aim is through positioning, technical ability and communication, can they stop the blues from scoring.
  • If the Defenders win the ball back can they play the ball into one of the mini goals that simulate other positions on the pitch, which would signal playing out of danger. So their is a Left Back, Right Back and Central Defensive Midfielder.

Coaching Points

  • Close Down the Attackers.
  • Do not rush in.
  • Jockey the ball, Show the player wide of the goal.
  • Force Attacker onto their weaker foot in order to make the tackle.
  • Get head up and make the pass into the right goal to score a point.
  • Communication is Key.
