14 players ( 12 x outfield + 2 x GK)

2 x GK in goal

2 players at 8, 2 players at 6, 2 players at 10, 2 players at LW, 2 players at RW and 2 players at ST.

6 plays to 8, 8 plays LW, LW plays to ST, ST drops ball to 10, 10 plays through ball for RW into the final 3rd. RW can choose to shoot at goal or cross for ST, 10 or LW.

Coaching points

Forward, penetrative pass to ST

Match day intensity

Check in vs check out (opposite movement) to create time vs space

ST to secure ball and drop ball with correct weight to 10

10 to play through ball into final 3rd for wingers

Timing of runs into the box, accelerates when winger take a touch and raises his head

Triangulate runs to near post, far post and 45 cut back

3 thirds with a halfway line marked out

Conditions

Defensive team has to drop into defensive 3rd

ST of defensive team must retain verticality on halfway line

Attacking team must build up play into attacking 3rd

All attacking players must be over the halfway line and in attacking 3rd

Check in vs check out (opposite movement) to create time vs space

ST to secure ball and drop ball with correct weight to 10

Playing part 3 (conditioned game) (20 mins)

14 players divided into 2 teams, 6 vs 6, 10 outfield + 2 x goalkeepers.

Conditions

Both teams to play in GK-2-3-1 formation

Both teams have to score within 8 seconds of winning back the ball

A maximum of 4 passes allowed before through ball must be played into the final 3rd

To score entire team must be over the half way line

Coaching points

Match day intensity

Check shoulders before recieving

Check in vs check out (opposite movement) to create time vs space

Open body and shoulders to receive on the back foot

Good first touch with relaxed ankle

Lock ankle when passing

Place standing foot next to the ball and in direction of teammate

Pass through equator of the ball

Look to play forward pass for transition

8 seconds to score or ball possession will be lost

Maximizing verticality to encourage forward passes
