- Each player with a ball
- Set up a 20 x 20 grid or modify depending on numbers of players. Ensure the space forces players to play close enough to one another to ensure decision making while moving in the space.
Have players start with various dribbling techniques with focus on:
Introduce numbers to go with a skill:

* Have players talk to their feet and call out the skill when the coach calls the number (E.g. Coach says, "1!" Player says, "Fake Take!" completes skill and continues to dribble).
Coaching Points:
- Can we accelerate into space with a big touch after completing our skill move?
- When we get more comfortable can we keep our head up while performing a skill move?
- Can we continuously scan to find space in the grid?

1v1 Reaction Activity (5 Progressions)
After each rep, players will go around the activity to the opposite side (Player A will go to the back of Player B's line and vice versa).
Progression 1
Player A passes to Player B and runs quickly through either the red or white gate to defend Player B. Player B attempts to dribble through one of the gates. Player B will most likely dribble through the gate that Player A did not run through!
Progression 2
Player A faces the player behind them in line with their legs open. The player behind them plays a pass between their legs to Player B. Player A must turn quickly to defend Player B. Player B attempts to dribble through one of the gates.
Progression 3
The player in line behind Player A has a ball in their hands. They will throw a ball with two hands, in the air to player B. Player B must control the ball and attempt to dribble through one of the gates. When the ball has been thrown, player A must run through one of the gates before defending player B. Player B should ensure their first touch gives them space from Player A.
Progression 4
Repeat Progression 1 but with a harder pass (on the ground) from Player A. Player A will still run through the gates before defending Player B. Big focus on the first touch.
Progression 5
In this final progression, the player receiving the ball will be the player in line behind Player B. Player B must face forward, while the player behind will make a feint before getting in front of Player B to receive the ball from Player A. They will then try to dribble through the gates quickly while Player B tries to stop them.

- Split group into 2 teams
- 25 x 40 yd grid (big area)
- Play possession game with the goals being the 5 x 5 grids on either side of the pitch
- One team will defend goals 1, 2, and 3, the other will defend 4, 5, and 6
- Dribble the ball into the front of the boxes for 1 point on the wide goals and 5 points for the middle goal
- Once the attacker dribbles into the box, the defender cannot go into the space
- The attacker must stop the ball in the box to get a goal
- If the ball goes in between the boxes, restart with the defensive team
- Extra balls with the coach at the halfway point of the pitch

1v1 - 2 Goals
Player 1 passes to player 2 and then closes them down.
Player 2 attempts to score by dribbling through the gates (not shooting) in either of the 2 goals.
Can be used for dribbling, dragging or turning as your theme of the session.
Depending on the theme, encourage the attacker to use that skill in the session.
After each go, players switch sides.
Progressions
1. If defending players wins the ball they can dribble through the cones to score.
2. Player must complete a skill move before scoring.
3. Player must fake to one goal and go to the other.
Coaching Points:
- How close should we be to our opponent before performing our skill move?
- Can we feint to the direction opposite of where we want to go?
- Can we keep our head up to see if our defender is cheating to a certain direction?
- Can we wait for the defender to plant his feet and accelerate quickly past them?

Set up a 5v5 or 6v6 game dependent on the amount of players available (may need a neutral or coach in net).
Let the boys play! Encourage players to decide when to dribble and when to run with the ball.
Can we dribble and run with the ball? Perform skill moves? Take on a player 1v1? Find our teammate who has a 1v1 opportunity? Do we know when to pass the ball after beating 1-2 players?
