Description

Improve main strikers receiving and turning with the ball, and raising awareness of introducing wide players to the attack. Also working on wide players awareness of the offside line and timing of runs

Animation 1

Start with three players and one goalkeeper, with a coach or a willing player feeding the ball (they may get bored!)

Feed the ball into the striker, who tuirns and plays a through ball to either winger.

Runs are triggered by the first pass.

Work on timing the runs of the wingers to stay onside, good control and quick release from the striker, awareness from wingers when they receive the ball (shhot or square the ball?)

Progression as per next animation, add defenders for mannequins, and bring in a support midfielder to start the srill, who can also be an option for the striker to pass backwards.

Animation 2

Same principles as session 1, however now introduce defenders.

This will add pressure to the striker, and create a dynamic environment for the wingers to learn when to time their runs to stay onside.

The addition of a supporting midfielder also allows the striker the option of returning the pass if they cant turn, thus creating a 4v3 overload if you wish. My preference would be to allow the supporting midfielder to then release a long ball for the wingers to run onto.
