Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Passing Combinations
Description
Learning Outcomes:
1. Improve Passing & Receiving technique.
2. Improve movement off the ball to open passing options.
3. Improve team shape when in possession using width & deepth of the field to create space.
4. Improve the link play between Midfielders and attackers to create quick scoring chances.

Organization:
Three zones of 5 yards, three white players in each outside zones and two defenders in the middle zone.
Instructions:
3v1 in one zone and one defender in the middle zone trying to intercept the pass to the players behind him.
The three white players must make three passes before they can aim to find one player in the far zone to score a goal.
The blue players must dribble outside the box to score a goal.
Coaching Points/Questions:
1. Good quality of passing: Sharp and accurate.
2. Good quality of receiving technique and the first touch.
3. Proper body shape before receiving the ball and the direction of the first touch.
4. Quick decision making.
5.The quality of support from the other two players: angle & distance.

Organization:
Add one white player in the middle zone and a second defender to make it 1v2.
Instructions:
The same as the above, now the white team has the opportunity to pass to a player in the middle zone if they cannot pass to the far zone in the first time.
Coaching Points/Questions:
1. Movement of the player to create space to receive the ball or open a passing lane to the far zone.

Organization:
Two teams of 5 (depend on the number of players and age),
Instructions:
The white team attackers playing in 1-3-1 formation attacking the big goal, and the blue team in 1-3-1 formation defending the big goal and attacking two counter goals.
Coaching Points/Questions:
1. Reinforce All the above.
2. The shape of the team when in possession wide and deep.
3. Mobility to create space and passing options.
4. Quick combination to beat the defenders and create scoring chances.
5. Creativity and variation to combine using give & go, overlapping and third man run...etc

2 teams of 5or6 playing to large goals.
Instructions:
5v5, both teams play in a 2-2-1 formation.
Free Play.
Coaching Points:
1. Implement all the above.
2. Keep team shape big when we have possession and small when defending.
3. always look to score in the attacking third.
4. Immediate pressure on the ball when the player loses the ball.

Organization:
An area of 25x25 yards.
Instructions:
Each player has a number from 1 to 6, and the other 4 with one ball each as it shows in the diagram. the numbered players in movement making pass following the order from 1 to 6 and the blue players dribbling with the ball from one side to the other.
Coaching Points:
1. All players in movement no standing up.
2. The quality technique of pass (accuracy & Weight).
3. Visual and verbal communication (eye contact, calling numbers/names).
Regression:
- Take away the blue players, make two groups doing the same thing with competition which team can make more passes then the other one in 1 minute.
