The Session: 1v1 back to goal receive
Set Up
Grid size 12x16 (dependant on numbers use 2 grids)
4 x 3mins with 2 mins rest in between
Split in to 2 teams half in red half in blue on oposite sides facing towards goal
Coach will call when to start and 1 player from each team will run around agility pole 5 yards away and enter the grid
Up on rounding the agility pole coach will play ball in and players will challenge for possession
Player who wins possession will attempt to face defender and beat them in 1v1 and try to score
If defender can win ball they then attack and score
Key Points:
3 checks
Body position to win 1st ball
Use skill moves, Coutinho, Marradonna, Step overs to get past defender
Be creative and brave on the ball
Be ruthless to score goals

Coach varies number of attackers and defenders by calling before playing ball

THE SESSION: Switching Play Through Midfield
Set Up
Grid size 48x36
Inner grid 24x18
Play starts with either goal keeper.
Team in possession can not score until play has built up through midfield.
Midfielders must contribute to the build up before the ball is played into the attacking third.
Ball can not be played forward by the wide neutral players until a combination has been made with the midfield 3.
Midfielders can defend outside the central zone, but must receive and pass from within the central zone.
There is always one free (neutral) player in the midfield.
Key Points:
Can the midfield combine with the centre halves to play out.
Movement to initiate the pass
How does your movement influence the player in possession of the ball.
Move to create a passing lane
If the player in motion is marked tighly and drags his defender away how can player off the ball utilse the space left by the initial run.
Rotations into and out of space
Play back to play forward.

THE SESSION: Finishing with Transition
Set-up:
As shown (split group in 2 Red and Blue both working at the same time)
Player 1 dribbles at mannequin and preforms a 1 v 1move and shoots > Then transition
Player 2 passes to player 1 who sets for 2's shot on goal > Transition to defend.
Player 3 attacks player 2, 1 v 1 to score.
Move to next station.

Sneak a look befor shooting.
Strong initial pass for set and shoot.
Set the ball forward and attack the ball at speed

-Goals count as 1
-If the blue team catches the ball from a missed shot -5 points

THE SESSION: U16 Warm Up
Set up:
- 3 lines of cones spaced 10 metres apart
- Split players into even groups (including GK's)
- The first player of each group moves forward
- The next player in line goes once first player reaches middle cone
- 2 reps of each Players will perform the following exercises:
- Walking Lunge (10m) then Lateral Squat (10m)
- Open gate (10m) into close gate (10m)
- Hamstring Raises (10m) across body (10m)
- Side step (10m) then swap direction halfway
- Carioca (10m) then swap direction halfway
- Forwards run (10m) then Backwards run (10m)
- Jog into diaganol shuffle at half way
- Alternating 1 leg skip (20m)
- Quick sharp small steps forward then back to line and then forward 75% run to end
- Jog forward (10m) then sprint at halfway (10m) 95% - 100%
- Stationary start 20m sprint 95% - 100%
Find partner and space:
- Arm on shoulder and swing leg across switch leg after 20 seconds
- Arm on shoulder and perform hamstring kicks
Players should now complete any other relevant stretches
- advise them on these to ensure appropriate technique.
