How it works
GK's now join the practice after GK training
- Two players from each team are selected via team captains to play as wide players who initially are locked in
- If the ball goes out for a throw in, the team in possession must start with a real throw in rather than a kick in or going back to GK's
- No corners
Coaching Points
- Using a pivot type player to support the switch either directly through them or utilising bounce passes to support speed of the switch
- Body position of the central players when recieving the ball to ensure they can try and play out within two touches of recieving the ball
- Detail on the pass, ensure the ball speed is high enough to avoid losing possession of the ball and the opposition scoring on transition
- First touch is important especially in the direction that it sends the ball, if the players get the ball in a tight area and want to switch out then taking their first touch back towards danger and tight areas needs to be coached
Blocks
2 x 12 Min halves
Progressions
- Whoever passes into the wide area, can rotate and become a wide player
- Wide players can dribble forwards but not backwards
- Central players on three touch max
Point Scoring
- Teams get 3 goals if they complete a full switch of play and score a goal from it
- 2 goals for switching the play (but failing to score)
- 1 goal for scoring a normal in play goal

General (20 mins)
How it Works
- Players will attack directionally during the practice, to keep game realism in terms of direction of play and the switches
- No players are locked in and can free roam throughout the whole area
- Teams to complete a switch of play before being able to score a goal
- Opposition have 5 seconds to score on transition, if they fail then they must restart and complete a switch of play
Coaching points
- Using a pivot type player to support the switch either directly through them or utilising bounce passes to support speed of the switch
- Body position of the central players when recieving the ball to ensure they can try and play out within two touches of recieving the ball

Blocks
4 x 5 min blocks
Progressions
Lock certain players into zones to challenge them as players but to also challenge the team on how the pictures may change
Central midfielders playing within the practice to be restricted on touches to get them moving the ball quicker
