Warm-up: half of the players with ball inside a grid, and half without a ball outside the grid. Players inside the grid must dribble the ball through the "mine field" avoiding all the cones on the way, and after that, find an outside player to pass the ball to. To be able to go through the mine field, players must keep the ball close to their body, giving small touches and using all parts of their foot to control it.

Player who was outside, after receiving a pass, switch spots with the player that had the ball, and go through the mine cone and find another player to pass the ball to.

Variation:

- now, coach will ask the players to perform one "special move" against the cones (pretending to be a defender) before passing the ball to the outside player.

- now, they can feel free to choose the move, but when they are outside and receive the ball, they must give a "positive" first touch (first touch must put the ball forward with control and pace).

Coaching points:

- keep your heads up to dribble and to be able to see your team mate

- if you are waiting for a pass, be ready!

- Check before you pass the ball, make sure the player is there and is waiting for the ball

Time:10-15 min

Coach will split the field in 2,3 lanes, always with a small goal in the end, one player by a cone in the middle and a line of players with balls in the end of the field. Player with the ball will make a pass to the cone player; cone player will react the way coach will show him/her, will receive the ball and will try to score. After the play, player that made the pass becomes the cone player; player who took the shot, go get the ball and go back to the line. Players should spend 3-4 min in each scenario.

Turning Scenarios:

1 - Player by the cone will check in to run away from the pressure, will receive the ball and will make a quick turn to try to score.

2 - Player will check in going to the side, will stay sideways (able to receive the ball in progression and able to see the opposite player) receive the pass and progress on the field.

3 - player will receive the ball and will put a positive first touch moving forward. Make sure player will hit the ball in a way that he/she will have pace, but also won't lose the control of the ball.

Variation:

- Coach can add a shadow/passive player that can emulate a defender (can't steal the ball).

Time:10-12 min

We will use the same setup that we used before, but this time we will have an active defender. Coach will guide the players to use one of three options that we used in the last game. They will try to do it, beat the defender and score a goal. After a time (3-4 minutes) change for the next one.

- After had tried all, the players will be free to try to beat the defender in whatever way they feel that fits their game the best.

Time:15-18 min

Pressure everywhere:

In this game, coach will have two defenders by the orange cones, like in the draw (this defenders will stay as defenders for couple rounds, and will switch after time). Coach will have a player standing between the two defenders, and a line with players and soccer balls in the opposite way.

The game starts when one of the players with the ball makes a pass towards the middle player. As soon as the pass comes, the two defenders will move and try to steal the ball. Middle player must quick react and with a first touch put the ball away from the pressure and score. The player can choose between a quick positive first touch and go towards the big goal, or, he/she can fake it, open their hips in the opposite way, and attack the small goal. To make easier, coach can show this two best options, to make sure every player knows what might be the easiest choice for them.

After the play, player in the middle go get the ball and go to the line, player who passed the ball becomes the target player, defenders go back to their position for a new ball.

* Coaches, if you have more than 8 kids, it might be better to run two fields like this. And you DONT need a big goal. You can use pug  goals, cone goals, end zones, just be creative!!
