Welsh Way Principle

Understand when and how to exploit an overload

Organisation

4v3 In middle area 

Blue team Start with ball in Keepers hands.

Explanation


To gain a greater overload if you pass to your outside Teammate they can join into the middle area.

Blue Starts with an Overload but can increase this by Utilising Outside players

Always start with Blue GK.

How



Coach will work with One Team in this case Blue Team on how to create and exploit an overload situation

If the opposition win the ball back they can either utilise outside players to create their own overload or try to score quickly for double points within a certain time frame..

Red Team To Defend Narrow and force play to wide area

Coach working with Blue team will ask them to create overloads whilst maintaining realism of game scenario

Coach 2 ( if available) will work with red Team on Defensive realism and attacking quickly if they win the ball back

Challenge, Conditions & Target


  • Be Brave When Creating an Overload.
  • Enjoy creativity and try to manipulate defenders.
  • How as a player can we Move Defenders around create space.
  • Sub Principles ( Breaking Lines OVER, THROUGH, AROUND)
  • If no success Limit defenders to start in own Half.
  • If too much success add an extra defender at start
  • Offsides Count for players in centre area
