Organisation - 16 players, 10 red cones, 10 red balls, 4 yellow bibs (prog 2 & 3), 2 manequins (Start only). 15 minutes (First progression after 5 minutes)
Rules - Players pass ball and follow pass.
Objective - Each player in grid must tough the ball. Find a player facing forward to pass to the target at the other end.
Start:
A. GK, pass to No. 4 position. No 4. passes to 6 or 5 who pass to 10, who lays back to either 6 or 5 (who didn't make the pass to 10, who pass through to 9.
B. No. Continues passing progression as if GK in other segment.
C. Alternate direction. GK to 3, to 6 or 2, to 8, to 6 or 2, to 9.
Technical Points - Body position to receive ball, Receiving on back foot for efficiency of ball movement

When ball enters the central zone game, a defensive zone player can entre the central zone by a dribble or to receive a pass facing forward only. Central zone try and find pass into attacking zone who play in isolation except for a player from the central zone who can receive a pass facing forward. Goals by first time finish. Defending team wins the ball and has 7 seconds to score, if no goal, restart from alternate team. Ball out restart from teams that would normally have possession in the same situation for a game. 25 minute game.
5W's - Controlled Possession; From the Back, Under Sustained Press, Quick accurate ball movement, with 3rd player movement to receive ball facing forward, Purposeful possession.
- Organisation: 3 Grids full width (reduce if younger ages) 15m deep zones = 20 cones; 20 balls (10 at each end) behind central restart player; 4 small goals (2 at each end located 10m in from side lines). 16 Players (8 red 8 blue bibs) including GK. Check width and depth of Grids.- Attitude: Focus on players working on constructive build up, not adhoc play.
- Ability: Adjust starting positions to allow flow of session. Defending start in defensive 2 thirds until ball played to allow start to flow. Focus on players being aware of options before receiving the ball to switch on attitude
- Understanding: Allow several restarts to ensure focus is on getting people facing forward with the ball in the next 3rd.
- Shape: All players to start in 3rds of field that are relevant to them playing out from back. Blue to be GK, 3 & 4; 2, 6, 5; 9. 10., Red to be generally 2nd choice players in same positions. Ensure opposition (red) front 2 press once ball is played out to replicate game scenario. Work on forward players to retain length in the field to allow more space for playing out from the back.- Self: Remember Team Task 'Penetrate the first line of pressing (pass or running with ball) in a way that We have a player facing forward in possession in the middle zone.'
Player Tasks:
- Blue 3 & 4 be positioned to see as much of the field as possible before receiving the ball so all options known before receiving the ball.
- Blue GK to maintain depth for bounce pass and if option is on drive forward into central 3rd.
- Blue 2, 6, 5 as pass goes to Blue 3 & 4, move into position to receive a pass not blocked by defender, but high enough to allow a pass back to a defender moving forward.
- Blue 3 & 4 remain active and as pass enters central 3rd get into positions to receive a pass too face forward.
- Blue 9 & 10 to stay high and allow depth to play.
Coaching Queues:
- Player receiving the ball and turning into defenders. (Bad body position / poor scanning / poor decision in relation to team task)
- Player not seeing opportunity for 3rd man run to receive ball facing forward
- Plyers crowing the ball (from front, side and behind) not allowing space to move into the recieve the ball facing forward (them or team mate).
