Skill Practice - Passing (Short) Opposed
Practice Layout:
There will be 16 players within the practice, 4 will need bibs to indicate they are the player within the middle of the box, the player will only need to hold the bib as there will be a constant change. Within the practice there will be one player pressing therefore the box should be a reasonable size.Use the setup from the technical to outline as it is within a similar part of the pitch with the same equipment being used. Layout Notes:
1. Each box should be 8x8 yards
2. Ensure flat markers are used to ensure each piece of play is not affected by equipment, 12 flat markers, plenty of footballs
3.Spare footballs within the middle area between the two practices, allowing both sides to have footballs close incase of ball is lost control of, highly likely due to ability.
Organisation Of The Practice
Organisation - There will be 4 players within each square, 3 along the outside aiming to keep the ball and 1 in the middle aiming to retrieve the ball, the 3 players along the edges will have a free space this is to move into when an opportunity arises. Having a free space will encourage the players to recognise where there pass must be then shape their body in order to execute a pass.
Adaptations
Progression 1. Create a league system meaning that players can work their way up and down the grid, get players to count how many times they enter the middle of the square, the player with the most will move down the leagues
Regression 1. Make the squares bigger, allowing more time on the ball for the players
Regression 2. Do 30 second time slots then change the player in the middle, taking pressure off the players
Information:
1. Recognise the pass (Focus)
2. Eye on the ball (Focus)
3. Angle of approach (Focus)
4. Non kicking foot next to the ball
5. Strike into the ball

Technical Practice (15 mins)
Technical Practice - Passing (Short) - UnOpposed
Practice Layout:
There will be 16 players taking part in the practice, all of them u12's, positioned equally in the 2 areas setup. This is a grassroots/beginner level group therefore practice should start off small to then allow players to become familiar with mechanics. Layout Notes:
1. 30 X 20 Yards, setup within the middle of the pitch to allow players to pass and receive in positions familiar to a competitive scenario.
2. Spare footballs within the middle area between the two practices, allowing both sides to have footballs close incase of ball is lost control of, highly likely due to ability.
3. 12 Coloured Cones, Plenty of Footballs
Organisation Of The Practice
Organisation - One player on each red cone pin the middle, two players on each cone on two corners and one player on the remaining outside cones. One of the two cones with two players present will start with the ball and pass into the middle. The player in the middle will turn out and play diagonally, for the receiver to then play a forward pass, this repeats. Ensure that players do not become out of touch will the practice in early stages as the tempo is down to quality which could lack, if good quality is shown early on go onto progression.
Adaptations:
Progression 1. Add another football into the practice so that two footballs are in play at one time. Progression 2. Split each setup in half (Groups Of 4), Same player will start with the ball, a pass will be played into the middle for a setback, the setback will then be played into the player infront. Each pass now will have a setback then played into the player in front.
Regression 1. Take out one middle player, now the drill will be slower but allows player to recognise where the next pass needs to be.
Information: Pass Mechanics
1. Recognise the target
2. Eye on the ball
3. Angle of approach
4. Non kicking foot alongside the ball
5. Strike centre of the ball with correct weight for the distance
