1) X1 dribbles the ball to the yellow cone and stops the ball. X2 overlaps and accelerates with ball and sprints to the gate with the ball.X1 has to make a recovery run and try and win back the ball.
2) X3 plays the ball into X4 who recieves on back foot. As soon as X3 makes the pass then X2 can close down. Work on x2's curved run and getting low, eyes focused on the ball. Rotate the practice.

Possession: Focusing on the two defenders working together to win the ball back, emphasise communication, jockeying and making play predictable
(1) 4 v 2 in each box. X's must play 5 passes and then switch the play. 01 & 02 work together to win the ball back.
(2) when the ball is transferred 01 & 02 wait outside the area in the middle and 03 & 04 go in.
(3) restrict to two touches

Defensive Game:
Focus on showing the man inside and outside. 15 mins each way.Players can not go in the areas. One team needs to focus on showing the players inside to avoid them getting in range of the goal and one team outside. Communication is essential and also their body positioning.

1) Backward movement, focus on body shape and positioning, knees bent, arms for balance, looking forward, move shoulders quickly, angled recovery run. progression: introduce a ball and work in pairs, one runs with the ball changing direction, man facing has to adjust body shape to jockey the man with the ball.
2) Progression: forward run always looking forward, backward recovery step around the cone accelerate forward. 3) facing each other, start in the middle, first to cone, again working on bending knees and reaction to opponent
