Part I: Technical/Tactical 3v3+2 (15 mins)

Organization

- Half field use set up as shown

- Marked area as shown (penalty box width)

- 10 Players (3 Attackers, 3 Defenders, 2 Target Players & 2 Goalkeepers)

- 2 Full size goals (set up as shown)

- 1 Ball (additional on outside)

Activity

- Players play 3v3 game inside marked area.

- One team attacks the full size goals, while the other team aim to play to the target players to score.

- Red team aim to keep possession & play side to side into each target player to score, every target player they reach scores them a point

- If Yellow team win possession of the ball they aim to combine & score into either goal past the goalkeeper (see diagram)

- If the "Attacking Team" fails to score past the goalkeeper the roles are reversed

- If Goalkeeper saves the ball during play, they distribute into area to the team playing side to side to targets

- When goal is scored play begins from Goalkeeper who distributes to Target Players with teams attacking the same way

- Target Player to Target Player = 1pt | Scoring in full size goal = 2pts

- After set time rotate the Target Players into the game

Coaching Points

- Pressing: Working as an individual/group to close the ball down & win possession back quickly

- Transition: On winning the ball PENERTRATE, PIERCE & PLAY to goal! Be direct & creative

- Finishing: Timing & execution of finishing technique. Don't hesitate, act on your instincts. End Product!

Progression

P - Attacking team has time limit to score in goals

P - Attacking team can only attack one goal, cannot turn/change direction

P - Introduce offside rule

Part II: Tactical 5v3+1 (15 mins)

Organization

- Half field use set up as shown

- Marked area as shown (penalty box width)

- 10 Players (5 Attackers, 3 Defenders, 1 Neutral Player & 1 Goalkeeper)

- 2 Mini Goals set up as shown

Activity

- Players play 3v3+2 inside marked area. Activity begins from Target Player who passes into Attackers

- Attacking team (Yellow) aim to build possession & score past goalkeeper into the goal

- In possession the Attacking team have 5v3 advantage. Wide attackers play in the outside channels & are free from Defenders who cannot enter & engage them

- Attackers can also use Target Player if needed, who is restricted to the end line & on two touch

- Wide Attackers can enter the area & join in the attacking move (see diagram)

- If Defenders (Red) win the ball they aim to score in either mini goal & can use the Neutral Player (White) as support - who can now enter the area to help

- Wide Attackers (Yellow) can enter & leave the wide channels to help win the ball back

- If Goalkeeper saves the ball they play out to Defenders (Red)

- If ball leaves the play or a goal is scored the activity resumes from the Target Player

Coaching Points

- Possession: Circulation of possession. Spread, stretch & seperate Defenders to open up gaps

- Positioning: Movement to unbalance & break the defensive line. Exploit the gaps!

- Combinations: Look for overload opportunities to exploit between & behind defenders

- Transitions: On losing possession REACT, ADAPT & RE-ORGANIZE as a unit. Press the ball!

- Finishing: Timing & execution of finishing technique. Don't hesitate, act on your instincts. End Product!

Progression

- Defender can now enter wide channel to engage Attacker

Part III: Tactical 6v6 Game Scenario (20 mins)

Organization

- Full field set up as shown (3/4 field)

- Marked "Attacking Line" set up as shown (red cones)

- 13 Players (6 Attackers, 6 Defenders & 1 Goalkeeper)

- 3 Mini Goals set up as shown

- 1 Ball (Additional on outside)

Activity

- Teams play 6v6+GK on 3/4 field. Normal game rules apply: throw ins, freekicks, offsides etc

- Attacking team (Yellow) aim to score past Goalkeeper, while Defenders (Yellow) aim to score in mini goals

- The "Attacking Line" (red cones) acts as a barrier for the Attackers. When building their attacks they can only pass the line by breaking it with a pass/through ball. Players from both teams are not allowed to stand behind the line

- Once Attackers break the line they can enter un-challenged, but have 3 seconds to score

- If Goalkeeper saves the ball theynow look to distribute to Defenders.

- Attackers must recover & drop back past the line

Coaching Points
