Emergency Defending Tuesday Session

Transition Game -
Cones/Flats.
3 sets of bibs.
Balls.
Team in the middle are defending - aim is to stop the ball transitioning between the two other teams.
If they win the ball back they swap with the team who lost possession. 10 minutes
Coaching points -
Who should press the ball - where should the supporting players be positioned during the press.
Which way should we be encouraging/forcing the players in possession to play.
Who should be the deepest player in each situation and why.
Progression - 10 minutes
Each team has 2 minutes in the middle. They get a point for each time they win the ball back but each time the ball gets played in between 2 of their players they lose a point. The team with the lease points after their time is up has to do a forfeit.

Working Simultaneously for 2 minutes on and 30 seconds rest. - 15 minutes
Equipment needed -
Flat Cones -
2 Sets of Bibs
Footballs.
Goals.
Split players up into two teams.
Taking in turns. One player is attacking and one defending.
You start with the ball on the furthest point of the flat marked box.
You have a 1v1. If you can dribble the ball out of the opposite side of the box you can have a shot.
If you score you get one point.
If the defender tackles you and succesfully keeps the ball in the box then they get 1 point.
Keep track of scores cause whatever team has the least points at the end will do a forfeit.
Coaching points -
Defenders body position in relation to where the goal is. - Where should they be showing the attacker.
When to engage the attacker - Bad touch or not confident/knowing wher ethey are going with the ball. going backwards.
How to engage - stay on feet? which foot to lead with and why.

Split the area into 2 halves.
2 teams split attackers v defenders with 1 midfield player on each team.
Attackers & Defenders must stay in their half.
Midfielder is allowed to transition between halves looking at making late runs/ running from deeper.
Start off with only attackers can score. - progression anyone can score but still only allowed in their halves of the pitch.
If a goal is scored then the team who has scored starts with the ball again as a reward.
progression - if the team wins the ball back in defensive 3rd and scores within 6 seconds goal counts as 2.

Block 1 -
1 Team gets 3 Goals for winning it in their defensive 3rd and scoring
2 goals for middle 3rd and 1 for attacking 3rd.
The other team gets 3 goals if they score from a first time finish or assist.

Targets in Session -
Technical - Ensuring the technique in the tackle is practiced so that the chance of winning the ball back in a challenge is maximised.
Tactical - ensuring the body position is correct when defending deep so that we can show the attackers away from goal.
Psychological - Improving concentration so that the players stay focused when defending for long periods.
Social - Adding competition into the session to keep spirits high in the team.
