2v1 to goals
18 minutes
Set Up: 20x20 grid, split in half diagonally
mini goals set up on opposite end lines,
2 even teams
Explanation of Game
Attacker A plays ball into Attacker B, who has checked back to the ball. Defender moves into the grid with Attacker B. Game is now 2v1 going to mini goal. If ball crosses diagonal line, ball is out. If defender wins ball, ball is dead.
Play 3 minute game and rotate roles. Keep score
First game - No coaching
Before second game - give coaching points
Second game - coaching players during the flow of the game but not stopping
Before third game - additional coaching points, point out something you liked, something that needs improvement
Scoring:
+1 for scoring on mini goals
Bonus points awarded by coaching for creative skill to beat defender (your decision, we want to encourage players to be as creative as possible, not worrying about making mistakes)
Coaching Points - want to ask leading questions to the players, not telling them the answer but guiding them.
- Progressing from the last game, we are adding an additional attacker. Now attacker has to make a choice on when to pass, when to dribble, when to shoot. What determines this choice?
- How do we commit defenders
- How do we move defenders where we want them to go? Dribbling away from the space that we want to go to draw defender out of it
- Quick decision making, have an idea of how we want to set up defender before receiving the ball
