Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): Playing out of the back - Dan Yates (Start Time: 2019-01-04 09:00:00)

Drill - 9 minutes - service 1

Description:

Ball starts with the target player, who plays the ball into blue 1. When blue 1 receives the ball he attempts to play a through ball to cener forward. GK to come and collect the ball. Once GK collects the ball, CB's to move to apex of the box. FB's to push wide and higher. Screening midfielder to drop into a space to offer option for CB to find to create and expoilt overload

GK to play the ball to a CB

Conditions:

- Ball always starts with neutral target player

- GK must pass to CB

Targets:

- Opposition team to score in 6 seconds when they regain possession

- Red Team to find target player on half way line to score 2 goals

- Red Team to dribble through cones to score 1 goal

Challenges:

- Reach the target player in 3 passes

- Can we break a line using a dribble

Coaching Points:

- CB to corner of the box

- FB to go high and wide to create width

- Holding screen to find gaps to create overload.

Problem 1:

Opposition drops off an protects the target player

Solution 1:

Swtiching the ball from FB to FB to creates space for overload opportunties

Problem 2:

Opposition team high press for final 4 minutes

Solution 2:

- Holding midfielder to find gaps within the midfiled diamond to act as a pivot to create extra option to play through

Drill - Service 3

Field set up: Half the pitch

Challenge: Can you switch the play to create overload

Target:

Conditions:

Ball starts with the target player, on the left wing. Target player varies type of delivery into the box. GK to come and collect. Once target player plays the ball he then gets back into position on half way line

Once GK collects the ball, CB's to move to apex of the box. FB's to push wide and higher. Screening midfielder to drop into a space to offer option.

GK to play the ball to a CB

If opposition gain the ball can they score in 6 seconds

Problem 1: opposition presses for first 4 minutes

Problem 2: opposition drops off an protects the target player
