Following on from the previous session where we focussed on Strikers & CAM's start position and movement.
We're now going to work on Midfielders roles/duties to support forwards by staying compact, moving as a unit and squeezing opposition.

If ball is switched: 10 engages and prevents defender playing backwards or sideways.
9 drops into 10's position to discourage ball into midfields feet.

Organisation: 8 Blues + GK (attacking team) vs 6 Reds (defending team).
Play starts with Gk who plays out to any defender.
Blues score by passing into 2 small goals which represent strikers.
Reds score in big goal as normal.
Challenges: Blues - lofted pass over midfield into goals = 1 goal
low pass breaking midfield line into goal = 3 goals
switch play before scoring = 5 goals
Reds - Coach countsdown from 10 - 0 if reds score, number stopped on = goals
Shot on target = 1 goal
Roles/Responsibilities: Red 9 prevents ball being played back to GK or defenders and press ball
Red 10 prevents ball being played to midfielders feet or switched low to other
defenders.
Red 11 engages FB and cuts off pass down line to Blue wide right player.
Red 4 shuffles across to cover 11 by splitting WRM & RCM
Red 8 shuffles across to cover 4 and occupy CM
Red 7 tucks in and drops to cover right side of centre mid (aware of Blue WLM)
Coaching Points: Body position/shape of midfield players and shape of unit.
Midfielders stay compact by moving quickly as a unit.
Once compact can we squeeze blues to force mistake or win ball.
Can we prevent Blue team playing forward?
