Football Problem
Understanding ho to penetrate the opposition lines moving through the middle third to the 9, 7, 11
Session Objective
Improve the movement of the players centrally to give our back four better options to play through the middle third and have organised rotatation between 6, 8 & 10
Organisation
Two teams of 3 V 2 in the middle with three and 9 in the end zones. Pitch divided into three grids as shown in the diagram
The red team must play the ball into the middle grid and create combinations before playing to 9. the red team can then score through the gates after a bounce pass hass been played off the 9. The blue team can score if they win the ball and hit the 3 before going through a gate.
Progression
The attacking team to be limited to two touches. 9 & 10 can rotate in and out of the final zone but can only have one player in the end zone at any one time
Team Task
Defending team team must try to deny the opposition from playing the ball into the final grid
Team in possession try to build up with combinations then play a bounce pass through the gate by linking with the 9
Player Tasks
6, 8, 10 to be in constant rotation and 9 to be constantly showing themselves. the two defenders need to cut off forward pass
Coaches Cues
Body posission for receiving and passing. Communication on central rotations. Speed and accuracy of pass. Ability for defender to read the passing channels and close them down
