Activation (10 mins)

1. Ball is played from Blue into Red in the square.

 

 

2. While the ball is played in, one of of four calls is communicated by the passer.

"Back" - Indicates player is on your back and red passes straight back to blue.

"Turn" - Indicates space directly behind you and red player opens body and turns directly behind.

"Left" - Indicates pressure from opposition on their right, red player takes first touch between two cones on their left.

"Right" - Indicates pressure from opposition on their left, red player takes first touch between two cones on their right.

 

3. If red has turned or gone left/right, they play ball to the other blue player and continue the same pattern. 

 

Rotate every couple of minutes.

Passing Drill (10 mins)

1. Ball is played from both blue to red players and 1-2 pass is done.

 

2. After the 1-2 pass, the two red players communicate to each other "red/blue" whilst scanning their shoulder.

 

3. Red players move to outside the cones to receive the ball back and play to the other side. Pattern continues.

 

Rotate every couple of minutes.

Positioning Game (15 mins)

3v3 in grid with 2 bouncers on each end.

 

Ball starts with blue team attacking the opposite two small goals. If red wins the ball they go on the opposite small goals.

 

Can only score a goal from an assist from a bouncer.

 

Rotate ends after each turn.

 

Coaching points:

- Can we scan the grid looking for space to make a third man run receive the second ball?

- Can we play 3 touch football using our movement off the ball and speed of passing to break the opposition?

- Can we take our first touch forwards with a open body shape?

- ^Can we communicate to the player receiving the ball where to take that first touch? (back, turn, left, right)

8 vs 7 + GK.

Ball starts with blue CB, blue aiming to score in big goal. If red wins the ball, they attack the two small goals.

 

Coaching Points - Team:

1. Can we communicate when passing the ball onto a teammate (Back, Turn, Left, Right)

2. Can we make third man runs off the ball to find space in behind the opposition/break lines?

3. Can we look for 1-2 passing opportunities to break lines?

 

Coaching Points - Individual:

CB - Can we slide with the ball being a pass back option from CM's and WB's?

WB - Can we remain level and outside of the opposition midfield?

When in possession, can we look to find a 1-2 passing opportunity with the ST to get in behind your player?

CM - Can we move off the ball to find space in the central third of the pitch to receive and play forward?

CAM - Can we look to receive the ball between the lines of the opposition midfield and defence?

ST - When ball side, can we look to receive to feet in-between the lines?

When ball is opposite side, can we shift over between the opposition cb's looking to receive the second ball?
