Carousel (25 mins)
Organisation -
Pitch size - 45 x 30 (each station being 15 x 15)
Equipment: balls, flat markers, bibs, small net (bench can work if no nets are available).
Keep players in their teams and show them around the station.
Practice -
Players work around the stations, completing each drill twice.
The first 3 drills in the carousel will change direction a total of 4 changes of direction within drill.
Drill 1:
- Players work in pairs and stand behind the cones facing each other.
- Players must then pass the ball to their partner and the player must control the ball with one foot, roll the ball to the other side of the cone and pass it back to their player with their opposite foot.
- When players change direction, players must pass and receive the ball with the opposite feet that they previously used.
Drill 2:
- Player pass the ball to their teammate and follow pass.
- The receiver will then take their touch and plays pass to player on the right hand side.
- Players will keep moving around the square following out this method.
- When the player has no player to pass to he will then dribble to the empty cone and pass the ball to the next player.
Drill 3:
- Instead of passing around the square the players will pass through the square.
- The first player passes to teammate in the opposite corner of the square and follows pass.
- The receiver will then pass to the player on their right and the next receiver will then play the ball through the square.
- When the player has no player to pass to he will then dribble to the empty cone and pass the ball to the next player.
Drill 4:
- Rondo: 3v1 possession game where players must try and keep the ball for as long as possible.
- If a player either loses the ball or kicks the ball out of play then they become the defender.
Drill 5:
- Football Volleyball: pairs are allowed 3 touches between them and the ball must not bounce.
- Points scoring system will be based on the rally number to focus on the passing between the opposing pairs.
Drill 6:
- Possession based 2v2 where the players will make as many passes as possible without getting tackled.
- Pair with the most consecutive passes wins.
